APPEAL
The Friends of Coronation Garden have delivered lots for our community in recent years: advocated for a new play area, won awards for the quality of our Gardens (see Green Flag below), planted and maintained the colourful and thriving bushes and flowers in the new Long Border, and brought users' issues and concerns to the attention of the authorities.
To continue our work we need your financial support. The Committee is incredibly grateful to everyone who provides financial support. However, with costs now significantly in excess of income, action is needed to secure the financial position of the organisation over the long term.
We believe that one reason why income is declining is because Friends and Members do not always remember to update their payment details on our website, and card details expire after 3-4 years.
To update your payment details you can:
> Go to www.focoronationgardens.co.uk
> Click “Log In” on the top-right corner
> Enter your details, if you can't remember them click “Forgot Password”
> Click the drop-down arrow on the top-right corner, select “My Subscriptions”
> If it shows your subscription as cancelled or expired, this is most likely because your payment card has expired or has been renewed by your bank
> Click “Buy New Subscription”
> Enter new card details and complete the process
> This way you can continue to contribute to FoCG for as long as your card is valid
Thanks for your ongoing support!
OPENING EVENT
Add to your diary - Coronation Gardens Thursday 25th July (8 days time) 3:15pm - 5pm.
There will be lots going in in Coronation Gardens next Thursday afternoon, July 25th, when the £143,000 children’s play area will officially be opened by Councillor Judi Gasser. She’s the cabinet member for the environment at Wandsworth Council, who paid for the project. Park managers Enable promise a lot going on, including our every own ‘storyteller of Southfields’ Hannah Need and a Nature ‘Walk and Talk’. We shall also be hoisting up the new flagpole our super ‘Green Flag’ award we won last year, one of only 6 parks in the borough to have one. Hope you - and the kids if you have them - can make it. It’s safe to say Coronation Gardens has gathered a lot of plaudits recently, with the swings proving a big hit!
Work continues on the restoration of the century-old fountain, with a budget being worked up by the council contractors and FoCG. The cost of creating the new replacement figurine will be more or less £10,000, for instance. The idea is the work is done early next spring, and completed for an opening in late May to coincide with Wandsworth’s reign as London’s Borough of Culture.
Please don’t forget to dip into our website www.focoronationgardens.co.uk from time to time. We’re giving it a bit of a scrub, and adding new content at the same time, including all our newsletters!
See below for the new signs for the Long Border (planted by our Gardening Club) and the Nature Play sign by the new Playground (consulted with FoCG).
